Oh, the things you do when you've got a Cub Scout. We had to do secret messages. Finally got them done, though to get them to appear correctly, dad had to swear at the iron. Makes me wonder how Nic Cage had the patience.

Leave No Trace

Sometimes, even the best poster-maker needs a little inspiration. Here, I help our 9-year-old out with an idea for a poster he had to make for Cub Scouts. I like his drawing better, since the idiot grin on the guy as the poop is slurped up is better than the idiot grin on my guy.

Of course, all of this begs the question: Does this guy mind that he has to finish walkies with dog poop in his hat? I posed the question to our son, and he didn't have a good answer. Neither do I.

The Adventures of Sooper Deacon

I have indeed been a slacking slacker, not having posted an update to this site in just over a month. But I make it up to you tonight, with the presentation of what could be a long-lived comic strip, Sooper Deacon. It's what our oldest and I drew at church today as I was trying to improve his mood. It worked until he figured out he had to stay after church for another meeting.

BONUS POST: Warriors!

Another example of how introducing something to my kids will cause them to run all over with it. Our middle child brought Erin Hunter's "Warriors" books into the house in a flood, infecting our youngest with them as well. Here's his take on a new cover for one of her books. Or it might be the Warriors book they're writing of their own. Once I lay my hands on their text, I'll post it. And probably weep over it, because it'll be better than anything I'm currently writing on.

Single-Point Perspective

Teach a kid like our oldest about the single-point perspective and know for darn sure he's going to run with it.

This is the first project we've seen come home from his art class, which started just a few weeks ago.
